We will be trialling the use of Myboard with our interactive whiteboard in Year 4/5/6.
Myboard is a classroom management software from Dataworks.
- Matthew 30/3/2010
Hey Matthew
How is the "Myboard" trial coming along...would be great to hear if you are seeing any benefits for teaching and learning and any other observations you have!

Beginning Term Two the staff will be implementing a three week cycle for staff meetings. These will include;
  1. Professional development
  2. General Business
  3. Curriculum development
- Jude 6/4/10
Hi Jude
Tell us about this new staff meeting cycle..Why have you chosen to go down that track? What will be the benfits? Are you underway ? If so... how have staff received the idea?
Jane 28/4/10
Hi Jane.
The new staff meeting cycle is going well. We are all much more devoted to professional learning and not bogged down in General business. We have changed our focus to revolve around providing excellent education for our students by raising the competence of staff and students in using Interactive Whitboards for learning and Teaching.
Below is our 2010 Action Plan.

Hi Hillston
I am attaching a link to a youtube clip that is really great for stimulating discussion around the importance of technology being used as a tool for learning for students of the 21st Century. Could be handy for a staff meeting starter!

Week 6:
Thanks for the clip Jane. ENGAGE is the word for the day. The main discussion revolved around the various learners in our classrooms. This Thursday we are travelling to hay for an Interactive White board training day. Hopefully we get alot out of it. We are planning a parent Interactive Demonstration evening for Term 3.

Hi Hillston-I came across this great resource on WEB 2 projects!!! Once you have unpacked the mysteries of the Interactive Whiteboards these are all the marvellous tools that can be explored with the students on them. They are very ENGAGING!
Jane 27/5/10

P.S.
Thought you might like to access a copy of Blooms digital taxonomy if you haven't already seen it!

Week 7: Thanks Jane we all appreciate the extra tips.We are all a little stressed out at the monent with Report writing. hence the less frequency of our contributions. We have been all trialling flip carts in our programs. Matthew and Vicki shared their lessons in the staff meeting. Each week we are focusing on sharing what tools we have used on the Interactive White boards.

Term 3: Wow many things are happening. The staff are feeling more comfortable with using the Interactive Whitebaords and searching for other sites to support their teaching. Matthew has been using the Activotes in the classrooom and the children are very engaged. This has also been a wonderful tool for assessment. Last Term we visted Hay for an Interactive White board inservice with Promethean. This was an excellent day and very practical. The staff came away feeling very supported and lots of new ideas. Exactly what we have been looking for. Attached is aphoto of the Inservice. Jude

26/7/10
This term we are focusing on staff taking time to develop more Flip charts to be used in conjuction with their programs. The IT release and Lead teacher time will be used for teachers to spend time specifically playing with the Promethean program to device their own flip charts and use the various tools to make these flip charts interactive. These flip charts will save all that time which can be wasted searching for sites etc. Sometimes we just need that time to sit and do one thing with NO interruptions. Jude

27/7/10
The Lead Teacher and ITC teacher have been working togther during since the LTLL project began.Targets were set to be achievd by staff. During the Lead Teacher time staff have been released to work on specific areas on their own or with the help of Matthew. The Lead Teacher role has enabled the staff to have time with Matthew and this has proved very successful. Attached are some of the areas we have all worked on.

3/8/10: Staff meeting today consisted of all staff contributing to the power point presentation for the mid-point meeting in Hay next week. The collegiality of the staff was very affirming. Looking back over the past two terms an amazing amount of work has been achieved. Discussing what we have actually done and how successful we have been prompted a lot of discussion amongst the staff. The three challenges, three learnings and three questions allowed us to reflect on the LTLL project as a whole. We are looking forward to meeting with the other Southern Cluster schools and learning about their projects.
8/8/10
Tomorrow we all travel to Hay for the Mid-point meeting. Our power point is complete and all staff have made wonderful contributions. It should be great to listen to the other schools and hear how they have found this process. When we return I shall post our work.... for all to see. Jude

8/9/10
Wow. Time has flown since our mid-point meeting In Hay. I will post our Power Point presentation in the next few days. The presentaions were very good. It was certainly evident everyone has been very busy with their targets. The staff were very pleased with our presenation and are continnuing to further their skills in the areas nominated.

Our mid-point meeting powerpoint presentation..

21/9/10: The holidays are drawing near and the term is coming to an end. The staff have been very focused on our plan and are looking forward to making new target areas in IT and PD next term. I will be away for the first two weeks of school Term 4 in Rome at the Canonisation of Mary MacKillop. I look forward to coming back fresh ready to begin the journey again. Jude
Term 3 Technology
I have been very slack with posting what we have been doing. The staff are still motivated and very much involved in Technology. The focus for Term Three was to utilise Mathletics more in the classrom. All students have access to this program at school and at home. This has also enbaled the teachers to track the students progress using an on-line assesment tool. The students who have been achieveing good scores are able to be locked out of easy work and are given more challenging programs. The Quick number recall section has cetainly made a difference to some of the students work.
Term Four: Professional Development
The staff have been actively engaged in learning more about various medical conditions to support students in our school. This has involved on-line programs such as ascia (anaphylaxis-e training) Living in the country is very hard to access face to face training. The staff all agreed this has been very worth while. We will also be doing face to face at the beginning of 2011.

2011

As part of our ICT Focus this year St. Joseph's has compiled a IT lesson term 1 plan to be taught by Mr Tonini:

Week 4: Jude------Not long now and we will be presenting our final LTLL presentation. The staff of St Joseph's have continued to focus on their two target areas PD and IT. The staff meeting cycle has enabled us to stay focued on particular areas we are targeting. The introduction of IT lessons across the school is proving to be a great success. The confidence of teachers this term is evident in their programs and the students are actively engaged with their learning. This term we have one teacher and a parent attending a conference on Asperges with Sue Larkey. Last year two teachers attended a similar conference which was of great value to several students progress.
When living in isolated areas we need to be continually seeking PD to support children with special needs in our schools.
Week Five
The staff have been busy preparing our final presentation. We have been working through the questions each week. This reflection process has created some worth while conversations. It was good to listen to everyones thoughts on What LTLL has taught us?. This week Matt is attending a 2 day IT course in Forbes. Jude
9/3/11: Wow- for those of you who already subscribe to Mathletics I know you would all agree how great it is. Our new Kinders are loving it. The teachers are utilising this site much better now. Students are set certain tasks for Homework which revise the topics being taught for the week. Students who are high achievers can also be extended. The parents love the fact their children are actually doing maths at thier level. Earlier this year we also had a visit from the Mathletics co-ordinator for our area.

Week 6: Tomorrow we are off to Hay to present our final presentation. It has been a great journey. As we have reflected on the process we really have come along way. The teachers and students have benefited alot from this LTLL project. It will be interesting to see how the other cluster schools have come along with their projects too.
14/3/11: Just back from Hay. All schools presented their final presentations. It was really good to sit and listen to the journey each school has ventured on. Sustainability was one of the big questions we all raised with each other. Where to from here? That is the biggest question of all. We plan to take our next PD staff meeting to stop and make some new decisions on how we will focus on our LTLL project for for the next 12 months. Jude

Week 9. I know it is week 9 and we haven't put our final learnings up. This is my job for the holidays. The process has been very good and we have been provided with a valuable tool to continue our life long learning journey. Stay tuned for our final Presentation to be uploaded to wiki. Jude
